SDAIA Winter School Boosts AI Sector with International Researchers

The SDAIA Winter School has brought together more than 90 researchers, technical specialists, and speakers from 18 countries, alongside Saudi participants, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

As a collaborative effort between the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and King Saud University, the school’s programs take place from December 8 to 21.

Crucially, the participants are currently developing creative and innovative projects in various fields such as teaching sign language and converting between languages.

In the light of this, the competitions aim basically create a qualitative leap in artificial intelligence technologies and elevate the AI and technology sector in the Kingdom.

Interestingly, SDAIA’s National Center for AI CEO Dr. Yaser Al-Onaizan honored the participants in the first week of the program. The awards represent a prestigious recognition of their efforts in the lectures and workshops on multimedia language models as well as speech recognition and generation in Arabic.

Through these activities and competitions, the SDAIA Winter School seeks to encourage the new generation to develop advanced language models and speech processing techniques.

Furthermore, it aims to foster innovation in AI applications and build strategic partnerships with local and international academic institutions.
