Saudi Space Authority opens registration for “Space Hackathon”
The Saudi Space Authority has opened the door for registration to participate in the “Space Hackathon”, which attracts innovators and developers to qualify them to participate in the “NASA International Challenge for Space Applications” in early October.
The opening aimed at enhancing participation in the developmental and innovative solutions to the challenges facing Earth and space, during the period from September 30 to 2 October 2021.
Through the “Space Hackathon”, the authority seeks to attract participants and form virtual teams that benefit from NASA data, and face challenges that will be available for solutions within a period not exceeding 48 hours only.
The authority will also motivate the hackathon participants to innovate by offering financial prizes of SAR 200,000 to the first-place winners. Those wishing to participate can register via the following link: https://saudispace.gov.sa/space-hackathon/.
The idea of the “Space Hackathon” is based on motivating its participants to devise new ways and solutions through space data, and to benefit from them in applications, games or innovative technical solutions, and to reach the “NASA International Challenge for Space Applications” that will take place over two days in early October.
The Challenge annually witnesses the participation of 5 international space agencies from 150 countries, and more than 26,000 participants, presenting more than 2,300 projects.
