By: Omnia Osama- The Saudi National Mathematics team has landed in London, ready to represent the Kingdom in the prestigious 65th International Mathematics Olympiad 2024.
Hosted by the University of Bath from 16th to 21st July, the event will bring together over 600 competitors from more than 110 countries.
The Saudi National team has been selected and supported by the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for the Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education.

Dr. Amal Al-Hazzaa, the Acting Secretary General of Mawhiba, extended her congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH the Crown Prince for this remarkable scientific achievement.
The competition kicks off with two consecutive days of rigorous exams. Each exam spans 4.5 hours and features three challenging questions.
Teams of up to six contestants, aged between 14 and 18 years old, will put their mathematical skills to the test.
The IMO2024 is proudly sponsored by XTX, a well-known algorithmic trading firm.

Simon Coyle, Head of Philanthropy for XTX Markets, expressed his delight, stating, “We are thrilled that the UK mathematics community has collaborated to make the IMO possible in 2024, and we eagerly anticipate supporting the event’s return to Ukraine in the near future,” in a statement to reporters.
In addition to hosting the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad 2024, the UK has opened its doors to this prestigious event four times since 2019.
This year’s location change from Ukraine to the UK was necessitated by the recent Russian attack.
