Saudi Museums Commission Opens Registration for VR Competition

Saudi Arabia’s Museums Commission has invited individuals to take part in the virtual reality competition, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The competition represents an innovative initiative designed primarily to foster education and boost technological advancement in the sector.

Officially opened on December 6, the virtual reality competition invites young people to unleash their creativity and employ virtual reality to create immersive and interactive educational experiences.

Such experiences will focus on Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage and help transform the role of museums in society.

Therefore, the competition targets a diverse range of participants, including students and graduates who have a degree in information technology, computer science, digital design, and fine arts.

Furthermore, developers and programmers who are interested in virtual reality, as well as artists and designers who are eager to blend technology with art, have the opportunity to apply in the competition.

To further expand the horizons of the contest, the event also receives applications from culture enthusiasts with a technological background who look for an opportunity to explore VR applications in museums. Moreover, storytellers who are passionate about narrating the history and civilization of their cities or regions can also apply.

Winning participants will have a four-month training program to boost their skills in virtual reality design and programming.

Crucially, the competition will boast four stages:

  • The selection of trainees
  • VR training and development
  • The creation of interactive educational experiences
  • The evaluation and judging of entries

Then, winners will be honored through regional ceremonies across the Kingdom.
