Museums Authority Launches Virtual Reality Competition to Drive Innovation
The Museums Authority has announced the opening of applications for the “Virtual Reality for Museums Competition,” aiming to empower talents to create interactive educational experiences within museums. This initiative is part of the Authority’s efforts to promote education and innovation in this sector.
Virtual Reality Competition
The competition seeks to support young talents and equip them with skills in virtual reality design and programming, contributing to the development of museums and enhancing their pivotal role in society. Additionally, it aims to highlight cultural identity through the creation of virtual reality experiences that reflect the Kingdom’s heritage and culture.
The competition targets students and graduates in IT, computer science, digital design, and fine arts. It also caters to developers, programmers in virtual reality, and artists blending technology with art. Culture enthusiasts with tech knowledge, individuals eager to explore virtual reality in museums, and storytellers skilled in creatively narrating their city’s history are also welcome.
The organizing authority has set the competition timeline: applications will be accepted starting December 6, 2024, and the training program will span four months.
The competition spans four stages across various regions of the Kingdom, beginning with the selection of trainees. This is followed by the training and development stage focusing on virtual reality technologies, then the stage of creating interactive educational experiences. Finally, the evaluation and judging stage to select the best projects. Winners will be honored with valuable prizes during ceremonies held in each region.
