Preserving Saudi Cultural Heritage
The Ministry of Culture launched the National Plan project for the collection, documentation, archiving, and management of assets and elements of Saudi cultural heritage five days ago, reported AlRiyadh. It is a national initiative within the Saudi Cultural Memory Center. This aims to preserve the rich fabric of the Kingdom’s cultural heritage by building a memory for Saudi culture.
Through this project, the center works on preparing a national plan. This plan aims to provide a roadmap for identifying, documenting, archiving, preserving, and publishing the cultural heritage assets and elements in the Kingdom .
In this project, the Ministry works alongside stakeholders from within the cultural system and beyond as well as individuals, to identify the elements and assets of cultural heritage. They conduct multiple workshops with stakeholders and the local community across different regions of the Kingdom, inviting the local community to a collaborative effort. Thus, this effort serves as a cornerstone upon which a strong foundation for the Kingdom’s cultural heritage is built.
