The Saudi national football team continues preparing for the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, determined to win their elusive fourth title.

Striker Firas Al-Buraikan and defender Hassan Tambakti returned to full training, enhancing the team’s morale and attacking depth. However, midfielder Abdullah Al-Khaibari undergoes individual training, working closely with medical staff to achieve full physical recovery.

Moreover, defender Ali Al-Bulaihi missed training sessions due to muscle pain, while Sultan Al-Ghannam remains sidelined with a cold.

Saudi Arabia secured a 3-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago in a closed friendly match on December 17, showing promise. Goals from Saleh Al-Shehri, Abdullah Al-Hamdan, and Nasser Al-Dawsari highlighted the team’s offensive potential ahead of the tournament. This victory marks Hervé Renard’s first win since his return as head coach, boosting confidence within the squad.

Training Focuses on Tactics and Fitness

The Green Falcons continue their preparations with closed sessions at Al-Shabab Club Stadium under Hervé Renard’s tactical guidance. Training sessions emphasize improving team cohesion, refining match tactics, and achieving peak physical fitness before departure to Kuwait. The squad departs for Kuwait on December 20, determined to make a strong start in the competitive Gulf Cup tournament.

Saudi Arabia will compete in Group B alongside Bahrain, Yemen, and Iraq in a challenging test of their abilities.

Their campaign begins on 22nd December against Bahrain, followed by Yemen on 25th December, and Iraq three days later.

Coach Renard stressed the importance of each match, aiming to lead the team to their first Gulf Cup win since 2003.

Hervé Renard’s returned as head coach has reignited optimism, backed by his strategic expertise and World Cup success in 2022. Renard’s leadership, combined with the team’s determination, positions Saudi Arabia as a strong contender for the Gulf Cup title.
