Saudi Foreign Minister, EU Official discuss Iran-backed Houthis’ violations

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on Sunday, the developments of the Iranian nuclear program and the ongoing international negotiations regarding it, according to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the two sides discussed “ways to strengthen joint efforts to stop the Houthi group’s violations, which it described as “disrupting the political solution in Yemen.”

The talks also dealt with the latest regional and international developments and the efforts exerted in their regard, foremost of which is strengthening international peace and security, as well as relations between Saudi Arabia and the EU, and ways to enhance them in all fields, according to “SPA”.

After the meeting, Borrell said via Twitter: “We look forward to strengthening European-Gulf cooperation,” referring to the discussion of regional developments and the energy transition.

In a parallel context, Faisal bin Farhan discussed with his German counterpart Annalina Birbock, on Saturday, the Iranian nuclear program and international negotiations in this regard.

The two sides discussed a number of issues and developments in the regional and international arenas, foremost of which is strengthening security and stability in the Middle East, and efforts to lay the foundations for peace made by the two friendly countries in the region the world.

And earlier this February, US President Joe Biden said in a phone call with King Salman bin Abdulaziz, that his country renews its commitment to support the Kingdom in defending its people and lands against attacks launched by the Houthi group on civilian targets.

According to SPA, King Salman bin Abdulaziz stressed, during the call with the US President, “the importance of continuing and strengthening joint security cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and its financing.”
