These statements followed the U.S. vetoing a Security Council resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. This decision dashed the hopes of hundreds of thousands of displaced and injured Palestinians. Those Palestinians are packed in the south as they fled the violent Israeli airstrikes
Brief Respite Amidst Ongoing Conflict
Since the war’s outbreak, battles paused only for seven days. This break included a prisoner exchange and insufficient humanitarian aid entry into Gaza.
Rising Death Toll
The Israeli bombardment in Gaza has resulted in 17,487 casualties, 70% of whom are children and women.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has recently emphasized the Kingdom’s consistent stance regarding the situation in Gaza. Prince Faisal confirmed that the Kingdom’s stance on Gaza is the same in public and private during an interview with PBS NewsHour.
He stated “There is no dual message. What we say in private and what we say in public is exactly the same, not just for the Kingdom but for all the Arabs.”
He added, “I am very proud that what we are saying in public and private are the same. I can’t say the same for some of our Western interlocutors.”
