The Saudi Minister of Finance and Chairman of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the IMF, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, participated on Monday in the Macro Week 2024, organized by Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) in Washington, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

On the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group annual meetings, the PIIE Macro Week gathers central bank officials and financial experts from around the world for a series of discussions on macroeconomic issues and ways to enhance the stability and growth of the global economy.

During his speech, Al-Jadaan emphasized the importance of strengthening multilateral action to address the current threats and enhance sustainable economic growth and human development. He also noted that low-income countries are the most affected by the challenges facing the global community.

Moreover, the Saudi Finance Minister said that the improvement of international organizations has become an urgency to quickly and effectively adapt in the face of tough global challenges, such as poverty and inequality. “Multilateral development banks must focus their efforts on building technical capacities and providing the necessary support and consultation,” Al-Jadaan said.

The PIIE is a reputable research organization that provides in-depth studies, policy analyses and practical solutions to strengthen the global economy, with the participation of distinguished experts and researchers.

The Saudi Finance Minister is heading the Kingdom’s delegation in the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Washington, taking place from October 21-26, 2024, in addition to the fourth G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting.
