Saudi Crown Prince, Iran’s President Discuss Bilateral Ties

The Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman, received a phone call from Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the call, Iran’s President praised Saudi Arabia’s initiative to call for a joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon. Pezeshkian expressed hopes that the summit would achieve great success.

Furthermore, both leaders explored bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

Saudi Arabia is hosting the Joint Arab-Islamic Follow-Up Summit in Riyadh to discuss the latest developments in the region, with a special focus on the wars in Gaza and Lebanon. The Summit will build on the outcomes of the first extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023.

On Sunday, the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, chaired the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Joint Arab-Islamic Follow-Up Summit, where officials discussed the summit’s agenda and draft resolution as well as ways to coordinate efforts.

Also on Sunday, the Chief of Staff of Saudi Arabia’s Armed Forces, Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, traveled to Tehran to discuss defense relations with his Iranian counterpart, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

During their meeting, Al-Ruwaili and Iran’s Major General, Mohammad Bagheri, explored ways to improve bilateral relations in the military and defense sectors to contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region.
