Saudi Aramco signs MOU with Samsung to localize fifth generation industrial networks

Saudi Aramco signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., to define preliminary plans for strategic cooperation aimed at localizing the industrial system for the fifth-generation technology in the Kingdom, starting with private networks.

The proposed cooperation aims to contribute to the digital transformation of the various industrial sectors in the Kingdom, such as energy, petrochemicals, and manufacturing.

This is by taking advantage of the advanced 4G and 5G technologies, which can provide secure, fast, and reliable communications to meet important business requirements in various industrial activities.

The two companies intend to help use advanced industrial 5G technology in high-critical communications. This follows the recent launch of Aramco Digital, which aims to accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom and the MENA region.

Aramco believes that digital transformation is of great importance in the future of the oil and gas sector.

Digital transformation not only increases efficiency but also drives innovation and provides job opportunities and skill competencies in the digital field. The use of these technologies also reduces Aramco’s carbon footprint.

An important aspect of Aramco’s vision is the mechanism through which we cooperate and share with the brightest minds worldwide.

Aramco Company has a global network of research and innovation centers in the US, Europe, and Asia.

It is also making unremitting efforts in the field of scientific research with the aim of opening new horizons, as the Aramco Digital Innovation Centers provide an ideal environment that supports innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs to achieve breakthroughs in the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
