The Saudi Visual Arts Commission has unveiled the launch of Art Week Riyadh to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s exceptional and evolving art scene, the Saudi Gazette reported.
Set to take place from April 6 to 13, the week marks a significant initiative gathering pioneering both local and international galleries, cultural institutions, artists, as well as art enthusiasts.
Art Week Riyadh represents a non-commercial initiative designed primarily to create a collaborative environment for the visual arts.
Themed “At The Edge,” the week will delve into concepts of thresholds, transitions, and liminal spaces, fostering Riyadh’s position as a hub for global cultural exchange.
Through a wide range of exhibitions, workshops, as well as public programs, the event will take place across Riyadh, centered in the JAX District of the historic town of Diriyah.
“Art Week Riyadh is about building a robust and inclusive framework—one that supports innovation, creativity, and thought leadership, with an unwavering commitment to preserving and advancing culture. By bringing together diverse elements of the Saudi art sector, it aims to empower practitioners and foster a shared vision of growth, opportunity, and cultural enrichment,” Dina Amin, CEO of the Visual Arts Commission, stated.
Interestingly, the event will showcase various artworks by several artists through exhibitions curated by prominent Saudi and international galleries.
The event will provide visitors with an exclusive access to private collectors’ exhibitions, offering a rare glimpse into unique art collections.
