Saudi Arabia to Host its First European Film Festival in Riyadh
Through cooperation and strategic engagement, the European Union delegation and the Arab Pictures Group for Audiovisual Media Production will launch the first European Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.
Between June 15 and June 22, 2022, Riyadh will receive 14 films from different European countries.
The European Union delegation, in collaboration with the embassies of European Union member states and the Arab Pictures Group for audio-visual media production, is hosting the festival.
The festival aims to facilitate cultural exchange, promote European cinema and strengthen contacts between European and Saudi filmmakers by organizing a side dedicated to events.
By providing a side dedicated to events, the festival strives to stimulate cultural exchange, promote European cinema, and build links between European and Saudi filmmakers.
“We are very happy and pleased to organize the first European Film Festival in the Kingdom,” stated Patrick Simonet, European Union Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The European Union’s representation of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain was established in Riyadh in 2004.
The European Union delegation works in a variety of sectors of collaboration with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, and Bahrain, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council members.
It contributes to political dialogue, economic and trade issues, regional security and education, as well as climate change and the transition to energy and a green economy.
