Saudi Arabia to Host 2024 FIFA Series

All eyes turned to the Kingdom at the end of last year, as it hosted the FIFA Club World Cup, which brings together champions from across continents. The tournament saw the participation of prominent clubs such as Manchester City, and Fluminense from Brazil. It also saw the participation of Egypt’s Al-Ahly, and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, along with renowned players like Karim Benzema and Marcelo.

Following the resounding success of hosting the FIFA Club World Cup™, KSA was once again in the spotlight for hosting the 2024 FIFA series. It stood out as the only country to host two groups instead of one. Cape Verde, Cambodia, Equatorial Guinea, and Guyana are in Group A, while Bermuda, Brunei, Guinea, and Vanuatu are in Group B.

In this regard, Yasser Al-Mishal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, stated: “We are honored to be among the first countries to host the FIFA series. It is a testament to our capabilities in hosting global sporting events and welcoming everyone.”

Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 2024 FIFA series holds immense significance on both a national and international level. Saudi Arabia’s selection to host two groups underscores its growing prominence in the global sporting arena. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 promotes sports as a method of promoting a better lifestyle, accelerating economic progress, and increasing the Kingdom’s worldwide reputation. This aligns perfectly with hosting the FIFA series. Saudi Arabia can further solidify its position as the region’s top destination for sports tourism and entertainment. This can be achieved by showcasing its cultural history, hospitality, and love of sports on a worldwide scale through hosting this esteemed event.

Notably, Saudi Arabia hosted the Club World Cup 2023 in Jeddah. The decision was made after a FIFA delegation saw the intended training and accommodation facilities. Additionally, they observed significant sports venues, such as Jeddah’s King Abdullah Sport City Stadium and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium.

Furthermore, hosting international competitions such as the FIFA Club World Cup shows the world Saudi Arabia’s friendly culture.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, sports are essential for encouraging a healthier and more active community. The vision emphasizes fostering a dynamic sports culture across the Kingdom. It recognizes the significant influence of sports on physical health and social harmony.

With investments in sports facilities and educational initiatives, KSA aims to develop athletes and promote their involvement in sports at all levels. Additionally, by organizing international competitions, the Kingdom seeks to establish itself as a center for sports excellence in the region.

Besides, sports-related projects play a crucial role in achieving the broader objectives of social development outlined in Vision 2030.
