Saudi Arabia Strongly Denounces Vandalism Against UAE Embassy in Damascus

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a firm statement on Sunday condemning the recent riots and acts of vandalism that targeted the UAE Embassy located in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Saturday.

The Kingdom officially affirmed its total rejection of all assaults and any acts of violence that intentionally target foreign diplomats. Furthermore, Saudi officials stressed the urgent importance of ensuring the absolute safety of diplomats and the physical headquarters of missions. All nations must protect these sites in strict accordance with the relevant international laws, treaties, and established diplomatic norms.

The Saudi statement also explicitly rejected the unacceptable offenses directed at the national symbols of the brotherly State of the UAE. Consequently, the Ministry demanded that all parties respect the sovereignty and the dignified symbols of neighboring Arab partner nations.

UAE Demands Syrian Accountability

On Saturday, the UAE Foreign Ministry reported that significant riots and acts of vandalism occurred outside its main diplomatic mission. These disturbances also affected the private residence of the UAE head of mission during the recent unrest in the city.

Because of these security breaches, the UAE called on Syria to fulfill its legal obligations to secure the embassy staff. The Ministry also demanded that Syrian authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that such violence should not happen again.
