Saudi Arabia signs MoU for cooperation with Oman at COP27

The Saudi government, represented by Prince Abdulaziz, the Energy Minister, and his counterpart Eng. Salem Al-Awfi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation between the two countries in the energy fields at (COP27).

This was on the sidelines of the meetings of the 27th Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The memorandum aims to develop a framework for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy. This includes strengthening cooperation in renewable energy, electricity, energy efficiency, and hydrogen.

It also includes the application of the circular economy approach to carbon and its technologies to reduce the effects of climate change, oil, gas, and petrochemicals. In addition, it includes the development of standards to support the use of sustainable materials instead of traditional materials.

The memorandum encourages digital transformation, innovation, cooperation, and the development of qualitative partnerships regarding the localization of materials, products, services, supply chains, and technologies, in all energy fields.

The memorandum includes exchanging training courses, visits by experts, and conducting scientific research in the fields of energy. This would contribute to deepening and strengthening cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
