Saudi Arabia, Romania Stress Need to Defuse Tension in Gaza
Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Romanian counterpart Luminita Teodor Odobescu stressed the need to defuse tension in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, according to Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said that the two sides discussed during a phone call “the danger of the continued military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings, and the necessity of finding the necessary ways to defuse tension and stop the escalation of the ongoing conflict in the region.”
The two ministers also discussed “the importance of intensifying communication with the international community through bilateral and multilateral relations to find a just, comprehensive and equitable solution that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people,” added the ministry.
They further stressed the importance of “mitigating the repercussions of this crisis in a way that contributes to protecting civilians and enabling the delivery of relief aid and medical equipment,” as per the statement.
Previous Gaza Discussion Between Leaders
During a call with the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, the Crown Prince emphasized the importance of reinforcing international and regional efforts to halt military operations in Gaza, stressing the need for De-Escalation in Gaza.
Receiving a phone call from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday, the Crown Prince emphasized the necessity to exert all possible efforts to reduce tensions.
He stressed preventing the expansion of violence to avoid serious implications on regional and global peace and security.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, received phone calls from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron, discussing the escalating situation in Gaza.
