Saudi Arabia renews its rejection of settlement projects in the Palestine

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s rejection of settlement in occupied Palestine.

 

It stressed the importance of the Israeli authorities’ commitment to international resolutions.

 

The Ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom’s stance in support of the Palestinian cause in line with in1ternational legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

 

Saudi Arabia supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East

as its capital, according to “SPA”.

 

The Israeli cabinet announced on Sunday, that it would legitimize nine settlements in the West Bank, following a series of attacks in East Jerusalem, last Friday.

 

According to a statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, the political and security cabinet unanimously resolved to legalize nine settlements in Judea and Samaria, which Israel has been occupying since 1967.

 

Without license

 

He added, “These settlements have existed for several years, and some have existed for decades.” These random settlements were established without a permit from the Israeli government.

 

Earlier, Netanyahu announced during a meeting of his cabinet that he wanted to “promote settlement”, which is illegal under international law.

 

This announcement comes in the context of an escalation of violence between Palestinians and Israelis.

 

Since the beginning of the year, violence and confrontations have killed 46 Palestinians and nine Israelis, according to an Agence France-Presse census.
