Saudi Arabia Ranks First in Cybersecurity Index of 2024 World Competitiveness Yearbook

Saudi Arabia ranked first globally in the cybersecurity index, said the 2024 World Competitiveness Yearbook report issued by the World Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, reported Al Arabiya.

This ranking in the cybersecurity index is the result of the National Cybersecurity Authority’s great support to the development of the sector. It encourages innovation, supports entrepreneurship and investment and builds specialized national cadres to meet the national need in the areas of cybersecurity. These efforts will strengthens the sector system in Saudi Arabia and maximize exploiting the promising opportunities; it abounds to achieve sustainable development and access to a safe and reliable Saudi cyberspace.

Chairman of the authority, Musaed Al-Aiban, pointed out that this global achievement is an affirmation of the Kingdom’s leadership in international cybersecurity indicators. It also confirms what was previously confirmed by other international indicators in the same field. He highlighted that this achievement advances progress in implementing the Kingdom’s various Vision 2030 programs, and enabling growth and prosperity for the development and economic sectors.

Last year, The National Cybersecurity Authority issued the second set of “Cybersecurity Tools.” The Authority clarified that these tools include templates for developing policies, standards, documents, and cybersecurity procedures in both Arabic and English.

Development, Content of Cybersecurity Tools

The Authority explained that these cybersecurity tools included a comprehensive study of various cybersecurity policies, standards and mechanisms and adopted best practices.

The tools cover a range of topics, including cybersecurity responsibilities, cybersecurity strategy, protection from malicious software, cybersecurity risks, email security, network security, web application protection, security of user devices and mobile and personal devices as well as security vulnerability assessment, data cybersecurity, security of industrial control devices and systems, social media security, and virtual environment security.
