Saudi Arabia Grants $90 Mln in Support to Palestinian Authority

Saudi Arabia granted the Palestinian Authority $90 million on Monday at the Saudi Embassy’s headquarters in Amman to further support the Palestinian government, according to Arab News.

The Palestinian Authority has received the tranche during a landmark meeting attended by Estephan Salameh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Minister of Finance along with Saudi Ambassador to Jordan and non-resident envoy to Palestine Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al-Saud.

Salameh praised Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support for the rights of Palestinians through financial and political efforts, and its international initiatives to establish an independent Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, Prince Mansour shed light on the Kingdom’s efforts as a co-chair, alongside France, of the high-level international conference in New York City that played a crucial role in supporting the Palestinian cause and implementing the two-state solution.

This conference marked a historic moment as several countries officially recognized the Palestinian State including the UK, France, Australia and Canada.

The prince also noted that the tranche of a grant is part of the Saudi leadership’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian government and assisting it to fulfill its financial obligations.

In September, Saudi Arabia announced the formation of an emergency international coalition to deliver direct financial support to the Palestinian Authority, pledging $90 million to help the government.
