Saudi Arabia has condemned outlaw groups’ recent attacks on Syria’s government security forces that took place on Thursday and continued Friday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized the Kingdom’s support for the Syrian government’s efforts to maintain security and stability and safeguard civil peace.
Clashes erupted on Thursday in Syria’s coastal area, the Latakia and Tartous regions on the Mediterranean coast, after a series of attacks by armed groups.
The clashes between the Syrian government and the militant groups have caused the death of more than 200 people, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
In addition, the observatory stated that fighting near two hospitals in Latakia resulted in casualties on both sides.
Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa has vowed to severely punish anyone who commits abuses or harm against civilians.
Since the end of Al-Assad’s rule, the new government has been attempting to lift the sanctions imposed during the previous rule as well as to re-establish security in the country after a long civil war.
