Saudi Arabia calls on Islamic countries to show solidarity with the Palestinian people

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan called on Islamic countries to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and their just cause.

”We are required to show solidarity with the Palestinian people, it’s just cause, and the Kingdom has stood with the Palestinian brothers since the era of the founder,” bin Farhan said in a speech during the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation executive committee in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Bin Farhan added that Saudi Arabia adheres to a just solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, stressed the support of any international efforts to solve the Palestinian issue leading to a comprehensive peace.

The extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee, in Jeddah, convened by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation took place at the level of foreign ministers of member states, in order to discuss the organization’s position in light of what the Palestinian issue is witnessing, following the announcement of the US administration “Deal of the Century”.

The organization affirmed its principled position and support for the Palestinian people in its struggle so that it can regain its legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

On January 28, US President Donald Trump announced the terms of his Middle East peace plan known as the “Deal of the Century”, which states that a two-state solution is realistic, with Jerusalem as the unified capital of Israel.
