Saudi Arabia and Kuwait confirm their right to benefit from Durra field
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait agreed to speed up the development and exploitation of the Durra field, according to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This comes under a memorandum of understanding signed in Kuwait City on December 24, 2019.
In the minutes of a meeting signed between them on March 21, 2022, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy and officials from Kuwait agreed to work together to exploit the Durra field, that is located in the submerged divided zone.
The Saudi Press Agency stated, “Both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait affirm their right to exploit the natural resources in this region.
It also stressed the continuation of work to implement what was agreed upon according to the minutes signed between them on March 21, 2022.
In this regard, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had previously invited Iran to negotiate the delineation of the eastern boundary of the divided submerged zone, but it did not respond to these calls.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, as one negotiating party, renewed their invitation to Iran to hold these negotiations.
