SAR signs a 20-year grain transportation contract with ARASCO
The Saudi Railways Company (SAR) and the Arabian Agricultural Services Company (ARASCO) company signed a 20-year contract for the transportation of grain from King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to the factory of the latter in Al-Kharj city.
The contract includes the transfer of grain by SAR Company, affiliated with ARASCO, to the city of Al-Kharj in total quantities of 850,000 tons annually, via the Orient Railway network.
The CEO of SAR, Bashar bin Khaled Al-Malik, said that this signature reflects in its merits the level of national partnership that supports the aspirations of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
He pointed out that this signing aims to enhance the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services and the National Strategy for Industry
Al-Malik explained that the contract will contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the Kingdom, in a way that serves the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative.
According to the owner, the contract concluded will result in the removal of over 30,000 trucks from the roadways, which will contribute to an increase in traffic safety.
This contract will also improve the road infrastructure, as well as its role in generating new revenue sources for SAR.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Railways inaugurated in early October the railway link project between the East and North networks. This is in addition to the Jubail internal network project.
These two projects will achieve optimal logistical support to connect the industrial and commercial ports in the cities of Dammam and Jubail with the local train network.
This will also support the competitiveness of the national product, and ensure its rapid and effective access to the various targeted commercial destinations, locally and globally.
