Red Sea International has secured seven new LEED certifications for its real estate projects at the “Red Sea” destination, boosting its reputation as a leader in sustainable building development. It also received a pre-certification LEED award for cities and communities for the “Amaala” destination master plan.
Moreover, to obtain LEED certification, each building must include sustainability features like energy-efficient design, sustainable materials, water conservation methods and treated wastewater for irrigation.
New Real Estate Projects
All six newly approved real estate projects at the “Red Sea” destination are powered by renewable infrastructure using solar energy in the first development phase. Additionally, this will prevent 575,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to removing 133,000 cars from the road or powering 75,000 homes. The same approach will be used for the “Amaala” destination, avoiding 350,000 tons of carbon emissions each year during its first phase.
Red Sea International Airport is the only airport in the GCC to run entirely on solar power 24/7. The “Six Senses Southern Dunes” resort, opened last year at the Red Sea destination. Furthermore, it is the first hotel in Saudi Arabia to earn Platinum LEED certification.
