Queen Rania of Jordan Embarrasses CNN’s Amanpour by Debunking Claim of “Beheaded Israeli Babies”
Queen Rania, wife of Jordanian King Abdullah II, put veteran CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour in great embarrassment when she confronted her about the falsity of CNN’s “Beheading Israeli Children” news story that appeared to be alleged and inauthentic.
Queen Rania expressed her point of view during a lengthy virtual interview she conducted with CNN, in a video call from her office in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Queen Rania said that CNN published at the beginning of the Israeli-Gaza war a headline about Israeli babies being found beheaded.
Upon reading the article, it becomes clear that the published information has not been independently verified.
She posed to the broadcaster the question: “Can you publish a devastating claim like this, which has not been verified if it came from the Palestinians?!”
The veteran CNN anchor felt embarrassed and tried to change the question after she said that pictures had been circulated by the Israelis showed babies with bullet holes in their bodies.
Queen Rania expressed the shock and disappointment of the Arab world at the “blatant double standards” in the world and the “deafening silence” in the face of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The Queen said that most networks are covering the story under the headline “Israel is at war”
“For many Palestinians on the other side of the separation wall and the other side of the barbed wire, the war has never end. This is a 75-year-old story, a story of death and displacement of the Palestinian people.” Queen Rania explained.
She added: “The circulated novel neglected to highlight that nuclear-armed regional superpower (Israel) that occupies, persecutes, and commits documented daily crimes against the Palestinians.”
Queen Rania said: “We saw Palestinian mothers who were forced to write their children’s names on their hands because of the high probability of them being bombed to death and their bodies being turned into corpses and body parts.”
She added, “I just want to remind the world that Palestinian mothers love their children just as much as any other mother in the world loves their children, and for them to go through this, it’s unbelievable.”
The Queen stressed Jordan’s clear position in condemning the killing of any civilian, whether Palestinian or Israeli.
She said: “This is Jordan’s moral and ethical position. It is also the position of Islam, as Islam condemns the killing of civilians.”
Meanwhile, the Queen explained that Islam prohibits Muslims from killing a woman, child, or elderly person, cutting down a tree, or harming a priest.
She stressed that the rules of clash must apply to everyone, noting that Israel commits brutal acts under the guise of self-defense.
Queen Rania said: “6000 civilians have left so far, 2,400 children. How can this be considered self-defense? We see massacres on a large scale using high-precision weapons.”
[ So, over the past two weeks, we’ve seen the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. Entire families have been annihilated, residential neighborhoods have been leveled, and hospitals, schools, churches, mosques, medical workers, journalists, and UN aid workers have been targeted. How is this considered self-defense?] The Queen posed this questions.
The Queen pointed out that for many in the region, the Western world is complicit in this war through the support and cover it gives to Israel.
“This is the first time in modern history that we are witnessing such human suffering and the world does not even call for a ceasefire,” she spoke.
She added that many in the Arab world view the Western world not only as lenient in this matter but also as a collaborator and instigator.
Speaking about what the Palestinian people are suffering from, Queen Rania said: “There are more than 500 checkpoints spread throughout the West Bank, also there is the separation wall, which the International Court of Justice deemed illegal, which divided the territory into two hundred separate enclave areas”
The Queen spoke loudly to viewers saying that the world has seen the unjust expansion of settlements on Palestinian lands, which cut off the geographical connectivity of the regions and made the establishment of an independent, self-governing Palestinian state unviable.
The Queen stated that Israel is violating at least thirty United Nations security resolutions that obligate it (Israel) to withdraw from the occupied territories in 1967 to stop settlements, the separation wall, and human rights violations.
Referring to a military solution to the conflict, Queen Rania said, “Victory is a myth created by politicians to justify the huge loss of life.”
« A solution can only be reached at the negotiating table,” she added.
There is only one way to achieve this, which is to establish a free, sovereign, and independent Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with the State of Israel, she concluded.
