Prince Mohammed bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation Opens Nominations

The General Secretariat of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Award for Cultural Cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China announced the opening of nominations for its first session today.

It will continue until the end of February 2025, through its official website (www.pmsa.org.sa).

On this occasion, the Secretary-General of the award, Dr. Abdul Mohsen Al-Aqeeli, invited academic and cultural institutions in both countries to contribute to the nominations, pointing out that the award receives nominations in four main categories: (research and studies in cultural fields), (artistic and creative works), (translation between Arabic and Chinese), and (Cultural Personality of the Year from both countries).

Nominations will be open to academic and cultural institutions, as well as individuals, except for the (Cultural Personality of the Year) category. The award’s system also allows an individual to nominate themselves for one of the award categories.

General Conditions

Al-Aqeeli explained that the award has general conditions. The nominee must hold either Saudi or Chinese nationality, and the nominated work must be in one of those two languages. Additionally, the work should contribute to enhancing cultural communication, especially between Arab and Chinese cultures. Specific scientific and artistic conditions for each category are detailed on the award’s website.

Al-Aqeeli added that the award is based on the values of cultural openness and communication between peoples, governed by objectivity, integrity, transparency, and intellectual property rights. It does not stop at the annual celebration of the winning works but seeks to create opportunities and launch initiatives that contribute to achieving its goals.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Award

He indicated that the award pays special attention to the youth in both countries and will work on harnessing their technical and artistic potential to enhance cultural communication between them. To achieve this goal, an encouraging award for youth has been dedicated, consisting of three categories: (Young Researcher), (Young Creator), and (Young Translator). The general conditions of the award will apply, in addition to an age requirement for the candidate, which is 35 years or younger. The award will accept nominations for these categories starting from this session through the official website.
