No Use of Backup Electricity at Grand Mosque Throughout 40 Years, Official Says

The CEO of the General Presidency for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Ghazi Al-Shahrani, stated that the Grand Mosque has over 11 sources of main and backup electricity supply.

Al-Shahrani also revealed that they never used any external backup stations throughout the past 40 years, Saudi Gazette reported.

Speaking at the Hajj Conference and Exhibition, the CEO emphasized the significance of ensuring the sustainability and high quality of facilities and services inside the Two Holy Mosques.

During a session titled “Sustainability and quality of facilities and services in the Two Holy Mosques,” the official stressed that the Grand Mosque holds a special place at the hearts of Muslims as the largest facility in the world and the most active around the clock and year around.

Currently, the authority is collaborating with partners to adopt smart asset, facility management applications as well as high-tech sensors to elevate the quality of services.

Furthermore, the authorities are accelerating the adoption of the concept of comprehensive access in order to provide easy services for people with disabilities. They are also partnering with various entities to secure an integrated transportation system.
