New Theatre Initiative to Tour Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s Theater and Performing Arts Commission has launched the “Theater Tour” initiative to encourage community engagement across the Kingdom, according to Arab News.

The initiative seeks to spread extraordinary theatrical performances in the Kingdom’s cities, governorates and villages.

Set to begin on April 3 and run until May 3, the first phase will display the play “Bahr” (Sea).

At the beginning, the production will be displayed in Al-Baha at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Theater in the Cultural Center from April 3-5.

Then, the play will move to Jubail from April 17-19 at the Royal Commission’s Conference Hall in Al-Fanateer.

Consequently, Dammam will display the production from April 24-26 at the Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University Theater.

The play will conclude in Al-Ahsa at the Society for Culture and Arts’ Theater from May 1-3.

As part of the commission’s pivotal efforts to highlight the significance of the theater and performing arts sector, the initiative aims at providing marginalized communities with access to cultural services.

Moreover, the project will further foster theatrical production and accelerate the cultural sector’s contribution to the national gross domestic product.
