Mahd International Cup Kicks off in Jeddah

The first edition of the Mahd International Cup kicked off today in the city of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

8 teams representing 6 clubs and academies are participating in the football championship, reported Saudi Press Agency.

The tournament started with the initial phase, held at the King Abdullah Sports stadiums, featuring 4 matches. Juventus from Italy secured a victory over Muhad Academy with a score of 6-1, while Royal Antwerp from Belgium won against PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands with a score of 3-0.

Then, the second phase, the Kashima Reysol team from Japan triumphed over Twente from the Netherlands with a score of 5-0.

The tournament, lasting for six days for players born in 2008-2009, proceeds with a group stage format. The participating teams are divided into two groups. Matches will continue with a knockout system in the advanced stages, leading to the final match scheduled for January 18.

The academy aims, through this championship, to refine and develop talents. It also aims to explore the latest developments in global academies and teams in developing youth talents. Additionally, workshops, training courses, and immersion programs will be conducted by the technical and administrative teams to enhance the development of Saudi personnel.
