KSA to Invests SAR 6Bln in Environmental Projects by 2030

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture revealed that the Saudi investment volume to implement environmental projects exceeds 6 billion riyals until 2030, reported Al Arabiya. Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Mansour Al-Mushaiti pointed out that the cost of environmental degradation has exceeded 86 billion riyals, according to a 2014 study by the World Bank.

Al-Mushaiti also noted that the Kingdom has made remarkable progress in environmental protection and conservation of natural resources, and has achieved progress in global indicators. The minister called for cooperation to enhance environmental commitment through self-regulation, disclosure, and integration of performance from all stakeholders.

He emphasized that the environment is a system that affects every aspect of life. It is closely linked to the economy, public health, and quality of life, which is why it has been placed among the top priorities by the government.

Ministry’s Environmental Progress

Moreover, he pointed out that the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has started studying the current situation and preparing the national environmental strategy since 2016.

Through practical steps and practices, it provided sustainable solutions with the participation of the private sector. These solutions achieved environmental-friendly development goals, whether by raising the level of compliance with environmental standards and regulations or by participating in investment in the environmental sector.
