King Abdulaziz University clinched the gold medal at the 9th International Invention and Innovation Competition (iCAN2024) in Canada. These accolades were granted for its innovative project, “Fasyla,” which stood out among over 700 participants.

“Fasyla” is a cutting-edge design system that engages users in environmental work through advanced technology, including artificial intelligence and lidar. The system guides users on proper planting methods and identifies optimal planting areas aligned with city targets. Users earn redeemable points for valuable prizes through collaborations with various companies and partners. The system integrates corporate efforts and social responsibility initiatives, contributing to global climate goals and a sustainable future. It embodies an inclusive investment approach, engaging all societal segments.
The Fasyla team eagerly anticipates presenting their project at the Global CSR Forum in Riyadh on October 28. They plan to showcase it to the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification (NCVC), highlighting its potential for broader environmental impact.
In 2024, King Abdulaziz University secured the prestigious “Zero Project Global Award” for the third consecutive year. The highly competitive award featured 523 candidates from 97 countries, underscoring the university’s prominent role in global academic and social initiatives.
King Abdulaziz University launched its first program focused on artificial intelligence (AI) applications in education and scientific research. This initiative, the first of its kind in Saudi universities, aims to equip participants with a solid understanding of AI in data analysis, leadership, and management.
