KFUPM ranks fourth globally in the field of patents

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) has announced that it has reached the fourth place in the annual classification of the American National Academy of Inventors and Intellectual Property Owners for Universities for the year 2019 CE.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Energy Minister and Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees has dedicated the highest expressions of thanks and gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense for their great support for education and their keenness to keep pace with Saudi universities with highest international standards of quality in the fields of education, research, innovation, development and community service.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman indicated that King Fahd University has surpassed Ancient and distinguished universities and academic institutions in this field, by achieving this advanced center in patent numbers.

He explained that what has been achieved is a natural result of the strategic methodology, in the fields of research and innovation.

 He added that the university has followed this method over the past decades, under the supervision of university directors, deans and competent faculty members, who have focused on developing the university to keep pace with the requirements of development.

His Highness praised the university’s keenness to provide a fertile environment for creativity and innovation, which is a major goal of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, stressing that the university focuses on developing new academic programs that meet the requirements of the fourth industrial revolution, and activating the innovation system to its maximum.

The inventions that are developed at the university contribute to the system of the national economy, and actively participate in diversifying its sources and expanding its production base. It supports university’s position among the world’s most prestigious universities in technology development and entrepreneurship.
