Jeddah’s Mental Health Center Introduces AI Robot to Combat Addiction

Eradah Mental Health Complex in Jeddah proudly launched “Raseen,” a groundbreaking humanoid robot, accelerating Saudi Arabia’s digital health transformation under Vision 2030. This innovative assistant directly supports patients during recovery while actively raising community awareness about substance abuse dangers. Raseen utilizes advanced artificial intelligence and interactive educational content to engage users meaningfully and effectively.

Humanoid Helper in Traditional Attire

The robot’s name, Raseen, comes from the Arabic word for sobriety, reflecting abstinence from drugs and alcohol plus holistic health balance. Unlike simple task robots in restaurants, Raseen offers sophisticated interaction while wearing traditional Saudi clothing. He listens attentively to questions, analyzes them instantly, and delivers scientifically accurate responses through his interactive interface. Powered by precise AI algorithms, Raseen surpasses basic chatbots significantly in capability and application scope.

Dr. Khalid Al-Oufi, Eradah’s General Supervisor and a leading addiction specialist, confirms Raseen’s active community role. Furthermore, he participates in international mental health forums and visits schools, universities, and sports clubs regularly. Raseen privately listens to concerns about mental health and addiction, providing clear, detailed, and compassionate answers consistently. He also explains risks of mental illness, early detection methods, available services, and relapse prevention strategies thoroughly.

Within Eradah’s clinics and wards, Raseen actively educates patients during individual and group therapy sessions every day, explaining clearly psychiatric disorders, addiction causes, warning signs, treatment options, and recovery prognoses without overwhelming jargon. Additionally, Raseen supports staff development by clarifying workplace policies, rights, responsibilities, and Vision 2030 health transformation goals precisely. He efficiently addresses employee inquiries while suggesting valuable improvements for organizational efficiency and morale.

Balancing Innovation with Ethical Care

The National Centre for Mental Health Promotion (NCMHP) acknowledges AI’s multifaceted role in mental healthcare across Saudi Arabia thoughtfully. Although concerns exist regarding job impacts, social isolation, and data privacy, AI greatly enhances care access significantly. NCMHP experts stress maintaining careful ethical balance between technological benefits and human connection requirements constantly. Overreliance on AI might weaken patient-caregiver trust, so professionals must remain central to treatment.

Ethical challenges like data privacy and algorithmic bias require urgent, transparent solutions to protect users and maintain public confidence. Nevertheless, NCMHP affirms AI’s promising future in Saudi mental health services without reservation. AI-driven tools are evolving rapidly to offer vital support, and healthcare AI applications will likely increase fivefold by 2035. Raseen stands as a pioneering symbol of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to compassionate, tech-enhanced healing today.
