Israel’s Ben Gvir Urges for Death Penalty in Video with Palestinian Prisoners

Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, on Friday shared a video of himself standing over a line of Palestinian detainees lying face down with their hands bound, as he urged for imposing the “death penalty for terrorists,” according to AFP.

“These men — the Nukhba, who came to kill children, women, our babies. Look at them now,” the far-right minister declares in the video, referencing Hamas’s special forces unit.

Ben Gvir reiterated his call for capital punishment for those he described as “the terrorists”.

He has also threatened to withdraw his support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition if his bill suggesting “the death penalty for terrorists” is not brought to a parliamentary vote by November 9.

The far-right minister claimed that Hamas tortured the hostages” held in Gaza after Israel murdered senior Hamas leaders.

“I am proud of the revolution in the prisons, unlike anything since the founding of the state; today, instead of a summer camp, there is deterrence. There are no more smiles there – we erase them,” he wrote.

Then, he openly boasted about the harsh detention conditions he has enforced on Palestinian prisoners.

“Ask any terrorist who passed through my prison, if he would like to return there – they are afraid, trembling, and the number of attacks has fallen remarkably,” he added.
