Iran Challenges US: Revolutionary Guards Offer Trump ‘Bad Deal’ or ‘Impossible Operation’

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a stark warning to US President Donald Trump on Sunday, declaring that he must choose between an “impossible” military operation and a “bad deal” with the Islamic Republic, as diplomatic efforts to end the war on Iran remain deadlocked.

The Guards’ intelligence organisation posted the statement online, with state television carrying the message directly; Trump faces a binary choice, and time is running out. The organisation added that the window for US decision-making “is narrowing,” pointing to a shift in tone from China, Russia and Europe toward Washington, as well as an Iranian deadline linked to the ongoing US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

A 30-Day Window to End the War

The United States and Israel launched the war on Iran in late February, but fighting has been on hold since 8 April, though one round of peace talks in Pakistan ended without result. Since then, negotiations have stalled, with the US maintaining its naval blockade, while Iran keeping the critical Strait of Hormuz largely closed to shipping.

US outlet Axios, citing two sources briefed on a recent Iranian proposal, reported that Tehran set a one-month deadline for negotiations. That deal would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, end the naval blockade and permanently end the war in both Iran and Lebanon.

Trump responded on Truth Social on Sunday, saying he would review Iran’s latest proposal but added that he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable.”

Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Fars said Tehran told Washington the remaining issues “should be resolved within 30 days” and should focus “on ending the war instead of extending the ceasefire.” Key demands include a US military withdrawal from Iran’s periphery, the lifting of sanctions and the release of frozen Iranian assets, along with a new mechanism governing the Strait of Hormuz.
