How likely a heart stroke causes sudden death?

Many people ask about heart attacks and their impact on health. After all, how likely it can cause sudden death?

Dr Khaled Al-Nimr, Consultant cardiologist and arterial catheterization, revealed to Al-Arabiya net how a heart attack or stroke would cause sudden and inevitable death if not treated promptly.

He explained that the percentage of deaths that result from heart strokes for people who are not treated quickly reaches 40% to 50%. However, those who go to the hospital and receive treatment see the death rate dropping to 10%.

The consultant cardiologist monitored several factors that cause heart stroke, from strongest to weakest, as follows:

  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Psychological and social pressures
  • Lack of control of diabetes and blood pressure
  • Lack of exercise
  • Not eating enough vegetables and fruits
  • Family History 

Al-Nimr stressed the need to not neglect the stroke and treat it in all cases to avoid heart muscle weakness.
