Establishing Halal Products and Foods Center in KSA
King Abdullah Economic City intends to open a licensing center for Halal Products and Foods in the Industrial Valley, in cooperation with the Food and Drug Authority and the Authority of Cities and Special Economies.
This step of creating Halal Products and Foods Licensing Center was reflected through cooperation in a memorandum agreement signed between the two parties, King Abdullah Economic City and Food and Drug Authority, to facilitate and expedite procedures for investors within the Economic City related to the Food Authority.
The Halal Products and Foods Licensing Center will also host offers of competitive prices for renting industrial lands, services, and facilities to investors licensed by the Food and Drug Authority, in addition to those allocating fast ways and various options from industrial lands.
For his part, the CEO of the Food and Drug Authority, Hisham Al-Jadhi, affirmed that the partnership with King Abdullah Economic City is the nucleus for the launch of the halal industry in the Kingdom, pointing out that the halal market is receiving global attention because the number of Muslims exceeds about 24% of the total world population. At the same time, the size of the Islamic economy will reach about three trillion dollars by 2023.
