Governor of Rijal Alma Inaugurates Winter Events at Asir Waterfront

The winter events at the Asir waterfront in Al-Haridah, west of the Asir region, started yesterday. Supervised and organized by the Municipality Sahel, the events will continue for 90 days, reported Saudi Press Agency.

The governor of Rijal Alma inaugurated the events and accompanying programs amid the presence of locals and visitors. They prefer to spend their vacations and weekend breaks at the Asir beaches, enjoying the warm atmosphere during the winter season.

The ceremony held for this occasion featured various programs and segments. The head of the Municipality Sahel emphasized the municipality’s commitment to providing all services and preparations for welcoming visitors to a clean and well-maintained environment, including public facilities, parks, beach seating arrangements, and beach cleanliness.

He highlighted the increase in manpower to manage the facility and monitor the provided services. He noted that the waterfront would host a range of diverse events and programs catering to the needs of visitors. Moreover, it operates numerous restaurants, cafes, children’s playgrounds, and organizing some educational and recreational programs for families and children.

The waterfront is one of the most important seaside tourist destinations in the Asir region. It is distinguished by its stunning views of the Red Sea. The waterfront, spanning an area of 1.2 million square meters, includes a concrete corniche with over 90 family seating areas. Along the waterfront extends a 20-meter-wide promenade along the sea.

Project’s Facilities

The project also features green spaces covering 200,000 square meters, irrigated daily with about 200 tons of water. There is a marina for yachts, a yacht club, a gliding club and a maritime museum.

Moreover, it includes restaurants and cafes, sports fields, various seating areas within the parks, administrative buildings for maintenance, security, and management, family seating areas equipped with electricity and water, restrooms. There is a central mosque with an area of 3,000 square meters as well as prayer areas for men and women.
