The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has officially unveiled its next-generation race car — the GEN4, set to debut in the 2026–2027 season. This launch marks a major step forward for electric motorsport, reinforcing Formula E’s dedication to technological innovation and environmental responsibility.
The GEN4 is designed to be the fastest, most advanced, and most sustainable car in Formula E history. Delivering up to 600 kW (over 815 horsepower), it introduces an active all-wheel-drive system that operates throughout every phase of a race. Sustainability lies at the heart of its design — the car is built using 100% recyclable materials and includes at least 20% recycled components, further solidifying Formula E’s position as the world’s leading sustainable racing series.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds described the GEN4 as “much more than a race car.” Co-developed with the FIA, he said it represents “the most advanced, demanding, and sustainable machine Formula E has ever created” — a car that not only pushes the limits of performance and efficiency but also inspires a new generation of drivers and engineers to pursue a cleaner future in motorsport.
