Dr Victoria Rose, a British plastic surgeon who went on two medical missions to Gaza in 2024, stated that Gaza War is a pure destruction of population and a war on children.
In her Real Talk interview on Middle East Eye, Dr. Rose said that 50% of the Palestinians in Gaza are under the age of 16.
A War on Children
She condemned Israel’s genocide in Gaza and explained that if Israel had waged a war on terrorists, it would have targeted them specifically. However, that did not happen.
“I do not believe that this now is about Israel’s security or getting rid of Hamas. This is purely the destruction of population,” she added.
A Human Rights Issue
Dr. Rose also described the war as “a human rights issue.”
“Whether or not it is intended to be a war on children. It is irrelevant. It is a war on children,” she added.
When asked about her last trip to Gaza as part of a medical mission in August, Dr. Rose explained that there was an increase in injured children between the ages of 5 and 14.
“This was far more than I had seen when we were there in March,” she stated.
Surprisingly, the British surgeon revealed that one of the big NGOs had a theory that anyone under five is normally sheltered by their parents.
“So, if a blast goes off, they are picked up by their mother, their father, or one of their older siblings, and they are protected,” she explained.
Meanwhile, anyone over 14 is normally pretty agile on their feet and aware of the situation around them, according to Dr. Rose. “Bomb goes off, they run.”
“I think that tranche of children is just a bit too old to pick up and not quite old enough to have their wits about them. They are not in a situation that they can get themselves out of, and so they are falling,” Dr. Rose said.
