Baha Exhibition Sails into Saudi Arabia’s Maritime Legacy

A vibrant exhibition in Baha spotlighted Saudi Arabia’s maritime traditions, cultural heritage, and environmental diversity through contemporary artworks. Organized alongside the Theater Tour initiative, the event drew large crowds, including residents and tourists, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The showcase featured 16 modern paintings inspired by Saudi landscapes, three photos highlighting agriculture and nature, and Arabic calligraphy pieces celebrating linguistic artistry. Attendees praised the display for weaving maritime themes—like fishing, boats, and sea chants—with Baha’s mountainous identity and traditional crafts.

Connecting Generations Through Culture

Visitors explored historic fishing gear, pearl diving tools, and net-weaving demonstrations, linking youth to coastal communities’ timeless practices. Craftsmen showcased natural diving equipment and manual net-making, reviving nostalgia for Saudi Arabia’s seafaring past. The strong turnout underscored public enthusiasm for heritage-focused initiatives.

The Theater and Performing Arts Commission’s three-day “Bahr” play captivated audiences in Baha, blending tales of sailors, pearl diving, and maritime traditions. Launched as part of a strategy to spread culture Kingdom-wide, the initiative now heads to Jubail (17–19 April), Dammam (24–26 April), and Al-Ahsa (1–3 May).

By merging art, history, and performance, the events reinforce Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving its legacy while fostering creative engagement across generations.
