The Arab Observatory for Human Rights condemned the tearing up of copies of the Holy Quran by members of an extremist group in front of several embassies in The Hague and called on the international community to act immediately to put an end to acts that inflame the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world and go against international efforts to promote tolerance, moderation, and acceptance of others.
In a statement issued today, the observatory said that such extremist acts are unacceptable and cannot be justified under the pretext of exercising freedom of speech.
The observatory added that such actions must be dealt with firmly, and governments of the countries that allow acts that breed violence and extremism should be held accountable.
