Any Attack Will Be Treated as ‘All-Out War’: Senior Iranian Official

A senior Iranian official warned on Friday that Tehran would regard any attack “as an all-out war against us,” as a US aircraft carrier strike group and other military assets are heading to the Middle East in the coming days, according to Reuters.

“This military buildup—we hope it is not meant for real confrontation—but our forces are ready for the worst-case scenario. That is why everything in Iran is on high alert,” a senior Iranian official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

US Threats

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump warned that an “armada” of American forces was heading toward Iran.

However, he said he hoped it would not be used, as he reiterated threats against Iran over the violent crackdown against protesters and any revival of its nuclear program.

“This time we will treat any attack – limited, unlimited, surgical, kinetic, whatever they call it – as an all-out war against us, and we will respond in the hardest way possible to settle this,” the official said.

The official noted that if the Americans violate Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, “we will respond.”

At the same time, he declined to outline what form such retaliation might take.

“A country under constant military threat from the United States has no option but to ensure that everything at its disposal can be used to push back and, if possible, restore balance against anyone who dares to attack Iran,” the official said.

The US has periodically deployed forces and reinforced its presence in the Middle East during times of mounting tensions.

However, Washington staged a major buildup in 2025 ahead of its June strikes on Iran’s nuclear program.
