The Shuaiba Solar Energy Project symbolizes achievement and development within the Ministry of Energy’s initiatives aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. It reflects the nation’s success in keeping pace with its bright present and promising future. It also enhances its global position across various fields.
The Shuaiba 1 and Shuaiba 2 stations are located approximately 80 km south of Jeddah in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region. The station will also generate power using solar photovoltaic energy and will be connected to the national grid with a total capacity estimated at 2,660 megawatts.
Moreover, the Shuaiba 1 project is estimated to have a total capacity of 600 MW. The Shuaiba 2 project is estimated to have a capacity of 2,060 MW.
Al-Shuaiba Solar Energy
Al-Shuaiba Solar Energy helps increase the contribution of renewable energy to the electricity generation mix to nearly 50% by 2030. Furthermore, the two projects are being developed on a land area of 55.33 square kilometers, with an investment volume of $2.37 billion.
The local content percentage for each project is 17%, and the total number of solar panels for both projects is 5,233,174. Additionally, they are capable of meeting the electricity needs of more than 450,000 housing units annually.
