Al-Khorayef added that the technology helps improve the safety and efficiency of mining operations and the extraction of materials from various sources, noting the experience of Chile, where mines located 2,000 kilometers away are controlled remotely.
He stressed that these developments open new horizons for the mining sector and provide the opportunity for young people to become more involved.
The minister also emphasized that these surveys are critical for identifying potential areas rich in natural resources, such as minerals, oil, and gas. He pointed out that leveraging advanced technologies in geological data analysis also minimizes environmental impacts. Additionally, he stressed that a robust understanding of the Earth’s subsurface can inform sustainable development practices and support long-term economic growth.
