Al-Khatib Inaugurates Saudi Pavilion at International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin
Saudi Arabia has made a significant presence at the International Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin (ITB Berlin 2024). Ahmed Al-Khatib, the Minister of Tourism for Saudi Arabia, chaired the Kingdom’s delegation and inaugurated the Saudi Pavilion at (ITB Berlin 2024). This is a notable stride towards promoting KSA’s tourism sector on the global stage.

The Saudi pavilion at ITB Berlin 2024, welcomed numerous heads of state, ministers, leaders, and officials. Al-Khatib also met with officials from major commercial entities. Moreover, he met leaders from the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council.
The opening of the Saudi pavilion underscores KSA’s strategy to diversify its economy, positioning tourism as a central component. Besides, KSA aims to welcome millions of tourists each year, making the sector a crucial part of its economic diversification efforts.
Participation of Over 45 Partners
More than 45 partners from both the public and private sectors represented the Kingdom. These partners included government sectors, private companies, and tour organizers. Additionally, partners like hotels, travel firms, and airlines showcased Saudi Arabia’s extensive tourism offerings.
Showcasing Saudi Tourism Potential
The Ministry of Tourism and the Saudi tourism ecosystem participated in the Kingdom’s pavilion. They introduced guests to the vast tourism potential of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, they highlighted that KSA’s mix of natural beauty, historical sites, and modern attractions has established it as a premier global tourist destination.
Highlighting Saudi Tourism Achievements in ITB Berlin 2024
Besides, the Saudi pavilion highlighted the Kingdom’s significant achievements in tourism. It focused most notably on reaching over 100 million tourists in 2023, seven years ahead of schedule. The pavilion showcased that KSA topped the United Nations Tourism list for countries with the highest growth in inbound tourist numbers.
Record-Breaking Growth in Saudi Tourism
This participation comes when Saudi tourism is experiencing rapid growth at all levels. The Kingdom has recorded a 156% recovery rate in the number of inbound tourists compared to the pre-pandemic period, leading all G20 countries. Furthermore, the contribution of the tourism sector to the non-oil GDP has risen to 7%.
