Saudi Cabinet Reaffirms Somalia Unity, Palestinian Rights

King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired The Saudi Cabinet session on Tuesday that reiterated the Kingdom’s firm rejection of any attempts to divide Somalia. The Cabinet reaffirmed its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Somali nation during this critical diplomatic period.

Saudi Arabia voiced its strong backing for the outcomes of the recent extraordinary meeting held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Cabinet emphasized that Riyadh opposes the imposition of parallel entities that contradict Somalia’s unity or infringe upon its established borders.

Furthermore, the Kingdom remains committed to international cooperation that promotes regional development and strengthens collective responses to shared security challenges. Consequently, these statements reflect Saudi Arabia’s leading role in maintaining stability across the Horn of Africa and the wider region.

Commitment to the Palestinian Cause

The Cabinet also reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause while underscoring continued support for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. These diplomatic efforts aim to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish an independent sovereign state. Saudi Arabia insists that any solution must follow the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem serving as the rightful capital city.

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed recent consultations with international partners to bolster regional security and enhance stability through multilateral strategic cooperation.

Strengthening Defense and Global Partnerships

The Cabinet praised the successful conclusion of the “Gulf Shield 2026” military exercise, which featured air forces from across the GCC. This joint exercise improved military readiness and enhanced defense cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Joint Military Command.

Meanwhile, the leadership welcomed successful outcomes from recent economic forums held with high-level ministerial delegations from Japan and Canada. These gatherings resulted in several memoranda of understanding across vital sectors including space, cybersecurity, agriculture, manufacturing, and information technology.

Finally, the Cabinet approved the Kingdom’s accession to the Makkah Convention to enhance anti-corruption law enforcement and promote administrative transparency.
