Foreign Ministers from Arab and European countries are flocking to Paris to discuss the “day after” in Gaza once the war between Hamas and Israel comes to an end, reported AFP.
The meeting follows an agreement between both sides to implement the first phase of a peace plan proposed by the US President, Donald Trump, which received support from Arab and Western countries.
The high-level meeting, set for Thursday, October 9, 2025, will convene the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE, with European counterparts from France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the UK. Moreover, Türkiye and the European Union (EU) will be present.
In a statement, the French Foreign Ministry said that the meeting “will enable work on the implementation of the peace plan and the framework for the ‘day after’ by specifying the aspects of a collective commitment.”
It added that the meeting would “focus on security, governance and reconstruction of the Palestinian territories after the war.”
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the meeting builds on “recent positive developments in Sharm Al-Sheikh,” which it called “a pivotal moment in the Gaza war.”
Meanwhile, the EU said in a statement that its top foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, “will travel to Paris to attend the meeting convened by French Foreign Minister Jean Noël Barrot on the implementation of the US peace plan on ending the war in Gaza.”
Early on Thursday, Trump announced that Hamas and Israel “signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” following days of indirect negotiations in the Egyptian resort of Sharm Al-Sheikh.
This phase of the agreement includes the release of all the remaining Israeli hostages and Israeli troops’ withdrawal to an “agreed upon line,” Trump said.
